背景 About Us
Background information
The Home Affairs Department, Central and Western District, The District Council and Lions Clubs built a number of recreational facilities, such as BBQ stove seats, Rain shelters and public toilers in the Mount Davis Area. The HK Jockey Club also have a hostel for youths (YHA) near the peak, where it is ideal to watch the sunset. Added that the site is within close proximity to the City Centre, Mt Davis is good for hiking and is welcomed by local citizens.
However, owing to the lack of care, places near the disused batteries have become overgrown with wild grass. And as such, plant-life has gradually covered and damaged those military heritages. Moreover, rubbish left by visitors, millions of plastic pellets by war gamers have tarnished the war memorial buildings. And in the worst case the hygienic conditions were further threatened by persons who have illegally dumped building waste along the slopes and other areas of Mount Davis.

Friends of Mount Davis, Contributing organisations and Government Departments helped to recover a buried trail which was more than 60 years old. Mud and sand was removed, wild plants were cut away and uneven surfaces were re-paved. More than 160 volunteers took part in the harsh and daunting work; but everyone enjoyed it and are expecting to do the same for more lost structures, such that they can made available again to the public.
